FARMVILLE, Va. – In a match played on Race Courts, Marty Perry earned his first win as the head coach of the Lancers, 7-0, over UT-Dallas Tuesday evening. The Lancers won the doubles point and picked up six victories in singles in straight sets.
 
"The guys competed hard tonight and it was great to see them play with such a high level of confidence," Perry said. "We're going to do our best to carry this momentum into this weekend's conference matches."
 
The match is part of a stretch of matches in four straight days for the Lancers, as Longwood improves to 1-10 on the season. UT-Dallas falls to 1-4.
 
Longwood was quickly able to sweep the doubles point for the first time this season, dropping just a total of three games.
 
Dan Elston and Steed Johnson teamed up to earn an 8-1 victory over Hrudhay Ravula and Ryan Morton at the top of the doubles lineup. Florian Uffer and Alfonso Castellano defeated Grant Norris and Adam Lie on court, 8-0.
 
At the No. 3 position of the lineup, Bharani Sankar and Rosen Ilchev posted an 8-2 win against the UT-Dallas pair of Kalee Kuhn and Andres Peirano.
 
Three different Lancers didn't drop a game in their matches in singles. Elston posted his fifth victory in his last six matches and the fourth of this week. He overwhelmed Ravula at the top of the lineup, 6-0, 6-0, Johnson defeated Norris, 6-0, 6-0, from the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Lachlan Manser also cruised to victory, 6-0, 6-0, over Peirano.
 
Uffer didn't drop a game in the first set of his match, as he downed Morton at the No. 2 spot in the order, 6-0, 6-3, while Castellano won for the second time in four matches, as he picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win against Kuhn at the third position in the order.
 
Sankar posted the final victory of the day from the fifth spot in the Lancer order, defeating Lie, 6-2, 6-1.
 
Longwood hosts cross-town rival Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., on Lancer Courts.
