CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood junior Daniel Borisov has been named Big South Conference Player of the Week in men's tennis, the league announced on Wednesday.
Borisov helped the Lancers to a 2-1 week with road wins over Norfolk State and UNC Asheville, 6-1, and 5-2, respectively. The Dublin, Ireland native went 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles for the week.
Borisov also led No. 4 Wake Forest's Charlie Robertson at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 4-1 when that match went unfinished on Sunday. He won 6-4 and 6-3 against Norfolk State and UNC Asheville, respectively, at No. 1 doubles. He then won 7-5, 7-5 and 6-2 and 6-2 against the same two teams at No. 2 singles.
Borisov is 5-4 in dual-match singles play this season and 5-5 in doubles dual play.
The Big South weekly honor is a first for Borisov. Alejandro Uribe was also named Player of the Week this season on Feb. 25 this season.
