ROCK HILL, S.C. — Daniel Borisov captured the men's singles crown at the 2026 Big South Conference Men's Tennis Individual Championships on Sunday, leading Longwood with its second tournament title in as many seasons at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
Borisov, the tournament's No. 2 seed, defeated top-seeded Arijan Kaliterna of NJIT 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 in the championship match to claim the title. Borisov powered through four matches in the main draw, opening with a three-set victory over Bryant's Daniel Baquero, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, on Friday, before defeating NJIT's Yerassyl Bakhtiyar 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals Saturday.
The Dublin, Ireland native continued his run with a 6-1, 6-2 semifinal victory over NJIT's Soma Fukuhara later in the day before outlasting Kaliterna in the final to secure the conference championship Sunday.
The singles title, Longwood's second consecutive in the three-year history of the tournament after Timéo Puech won last fall, capped a strong weekend for the Lancers.
Longwood also advanced to the doubles championship match through the tandem of Rodrigo Guijarro and Marc Ferrando. Along with Borisov, the sixth-seeded pair also earned a place in the ITA Conference Masters Championship, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Ga.
Guijarro and Ferrando opened the tournament with an 8-5 victory over UNC Asheville's Harrison Cooper and Cian Ingles. The duo then defeated NJIT's Yerassyl Bakhtiyar and Riccardo Campagnola 8-6 in the semifinals to advance to the championship match.
In the final, the Lancers fell 8-4 to Presbyterian's Rafael Asadullin and Dario Navarro. Despite the loss, Guijarro and Ferrando earned a berth in the ITA Conference Masters as the doubles runners-up. The tournament's singles and doubles champions automatically qualify, while the doubles runner-up also receives an invitation.
Ferrando also delivered a strong singles performance, defeating NJIT's Riccardo Campagnola 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the opening round before falling to Presbyterian's Daksh Prasad 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
