TAKOMA PARK, Md. — The Longwood men's tennis team defeated Howard, 4-0 in non-conference action at the Tacoma Park Tennis Courts on Wednesday.
Howard's Marcus Weekes and Kendrick Lash opened the day with a 7-5 victory over Rufus Plane and Ninad Raut on court two in double action, forcing the Lancers to win on courts one and three to take the point. Timéo Puech and Daniel Borisov won 7-6 (2) over Michael Major Jr. and Kamran McIntosh-Ross while Alejandro Uribe and Daniel Lopez topped Michell Yon and Nathan Bermeo, 7-5.
In singles, Puech defeated Major at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0, and Plane beat Weekes, 6-3, 6-1, on fourth three. Raut earned the clinching point with a 6-3, 6-1 win of his own over Lash to finish the match.
Longwood improved to 7-5 on the year with the dual win, sending Howard to its seventh loss in as many matches.
The Lancers, winners of three of their last four duals, are back in action Thursday at North Carolina Central. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
