Daley Named Big South Freshman of the Week

Lacrosse Defender Tallies 10 Ground Balls, Five Caused Turnovers in Two Games

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood lacrosse freshman Peyton Daley was everywhere on defense in Longwood's win against Winthrop over the weekend, and the Big South Conference recognized her as the Big South Freshman of the Week today.

Daley had a monster game in the senior day win, recording five ground balls and four caused turnovers as the Lancer defense suffocated Winthrop and held the Eagles to seven goals in a 10-7 win.

For Daley, the four caused turnovers were a career high, and the five ground balls tied a career high.

The Great Falls, Va. native had set her career high in ground balls earlier in the week when she collected five against Wofford, and she added a CT in the road conference contest as well.

On the week, she tallied 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers.

She is the second Lancer freshman to earn Big South Freshman of the Week honors after Ava Bower did so on Feb. 10.

Longwood lacrosse is on the road at High Point on Wednesday, April 1 before returning home to host Furman on Saturday at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
