FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood women's tennis team will make its 2015 spring debut under first-year head coach
Bruce Myers Friday in a dual match against Villanova at the Westend Club in Richmond, Va.
The Lancers are under new leadership but return four of their top six from 2013-14, including last year's No. 1
Malin Allgurin and No. 2
Paloma Alatorre. Allgurin is slated to maintain her hold on the top singles spot once again as she begins her senior campaign with 48 career wins, which ranks ninth in the Longwood record books.
Allgurin went 5-2 in singles action during the fall and strung together a four-match win streak with three of those wins coming at the Villanova Invitational in October.
Following Allgurin in the Lancer lineup will be
Maria Coronel,
Anna Pelak, Alatorre,
Mason Thomas and
Nicole Parker.
Allgurin and Alatorre will also team up in the top doubles spot, followed by Pelak and Parker, and Thomas and Coronel.
Longwood will then get a week to prep for a home double header on Feb. 7 against Bucknell and Richmond.
