FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood women's lacrosse saw five players earn All-Big South honors, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Madison Rogers and
Isabella McCullough both were selected to the All-Big South Second Team by the league's coaches, and
Jordan Fitzgerald was an All-Big South Honorable Mention.
Peyton Daley earned a spot on the Big South All-Freshman Team, and
Kendra DeFilippo was named to the Big South All-Academic Team.
Rogers was the leading goal scorer this year for the Lancers. The sophomore tallied a team-best 37 goals while adding nine assists. She chipped in with 19 ground balls and seven caused turnovers as well. Rogers scored multiple goals in 12 of her team's 15 matches, and she had a career-best four goals in a game three times this season.
McCullough was the team's top goalkeeper throughout the year. The senior posted 163 saves with a .466 save percentage spread across 782 minutes this season. She made at least 10 saves in eight games this season, including the final six games of the regular season. She set a team-record with 21 saves in a game against Liberty in early March.
Fitzgerald served as a two-way midfielder, chipping in on the draw (39 draw controls) as well as on offense (14 goals, three assists) and on defense (19 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers). A team captain, she had multiple goals in a game four times this season.
Daley led the Lancers in caused turnovers with 26 on the year. The freshman added 35 ground balls as well, tying for the team lead in the process. She had at least one CT in 14 games, and she had six games with multiple CTs. In addition, she had at least five ground balls in a game three times.
DeFilippo was an ace in the classroom throughout her Longwood career, and she is finishing her degree in biology with a minor in criminal justice with plans to attend George Washington to pursue her master's degree in forensic science. On the field, she finished second on the team with 16 assists while adding nine goals. She added eight ground balls and 12 draw controls as well.
