HOW IT HAPPENED:

Longwood struck first when Jordan Fitzgerald opened the scoring less than two minutes in, and after Wofford answered, Bailey Stratton found the back of the cage off a feed from Sarah Forman for a 2-1 lead.

But Wofford controlled the next five minutes of play, scoring four straight goals to take a 5-2 lead. Graebner started the run, and Carlie Cutinella ended it with back-to-back strikes.

Alexandra Hirst buried a shot off a find from Kendra DeFilippo to cut the lead to two, but Wofford extended it to three to end the first quarter.

Cook then scored twice off passes from DeFilippo and Forman to help Longwood trim it to 6-5 with nine minutes to go in the half.

Defenses took over, and neither side scored for the next six-and-a-half minutes. Mia Leon broke the drought to put Wofford up 7-5, and the Terriers extended it to 9-5 at the break.

Rogers scored twice after halftime, but Wofford managed to keep the feisty Lancers at bay the rest of the way.

Hannah Taylor made three saves in goal for Wofford to get the win.

Isabella McCullough tallied 12 saves for the Lancers to help her side hang around.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"So proud of this team," said Longwood Head Coach Dwayne Hicks. "They played really hard, but our turnovers got the best of us. But we're young, and this experience is going to make us better in the future."

The season is complete for the Lancers.
