SPARTANBURG, SC.- The Longwood Lancers (3-11, 2-6 Big South) are headed to face the Wofford Terriers (8-9, 6-2 Big South) in the first round of the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship on Tuesday night.
 
History:
  • The two squads have faced off six times.
  • Wofford leads the series 4-2.
  • The two sides met earlier this season in Spartanburg, with Wofford winning 22-9. 
Watching Wofford:
  • Four players have at least 40 points for the Terriers this season.
  • McKenzie Moeller is the points leader with 50 after totaling 36 goals and 14 assists.
  • Carlie Cutinella leads Wofford in goals with 39 and has added seven assists.
  • Katie Brosseau has a team-high 30 assists to go with 14 goals.
  • Olivia Graebner has put up 27 goals and 16 assists as the fifth player with at least 40 points, and she has also pitched in on defense with 20 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers.
  • Brooke Meltcher leads the way on defense with 84 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers.
  • Vivian Chiomento leads the team with 151 draw controls.
  • In goal, Hannah Taylor (7-9) has played the lion's share of the minutes and has totaled 127 saves and a .379 save percentage.
Rogers Roger:
  • Madison Rogers has been the leading attacker for the Lancers this season with 35 goals.
  • She has added nine assists, 17 ground balls, and six caused turnovers.
  • Rogers is seventh in the Big South for goals per game. 
  • She has had multiple goals in nine straight games and in 11 of the team's 14 games this season.
  • The sophomore has scored at least three goals in a game seven times.
Youthful Attack:
  • Three sophomore Lancers have aided Rogers in the scoring efforts: Alexandra Hirst (15 goals, 13 assists), Bailey Stratton (16 goals, four assists), and Sarah Forman (five goals, 15 assists). 
  • Better than 75 percent of the team's goals have been scored by underclassmen this season (83 of 110).
  • Sarah Forman is eighth in assists per game in the Big South.
Wily Vet
  • Senior midfielder Kendra DeFilippo has been a key cog amid the youth of Longwood's offense this season. 
  • She ranks third on the team with 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists).
  • She is ninth in the Big South in assists per game.
  • She has had at least three points in each of her past three games.
FitzMagic:
  • Jordan Fitzgerald has been an effective two-way midfielder for Longwood.
  • She is fourth on the team in goals (13), has three assists, is first in draw controls (39), is seventh in caused turnovers (11) and has added 15 ground balls.
  • In the Big South, Fitzgerald is eighth in draw controls per game. 
Determined Defense:
  • Longwood's defense is second in the Big South, and is seventh nationally, with 12.00 caused turnovers per game.
  • The defensive unit is led by Zenie Newsom (20 caused turnovers, 34 ground balls) and Lily Stohlman (18 caused turnovers, 23 ground balls).
  • Peyton Daley has been a standout in her freshman campaign, with 25 caused turnovers and 32 ground balls. She has earned Big South freshman of the week honors this season.
  • Currently, Daley is fourth in the Big South in caused turnovers per game, and Newsom is  tenth in caused turnovers per game and seventh in ground balls per game.
 Backstopped by Bella:
  • Isabella McCullough (3-11) has been the key netminder for Longwood, with 151 saves, 24 ground balls, and a 0.465 save percentage.
  • McCullough is second in the Big South for saves per game. She is third for save percentage. In the nation, McCullough is fourth in saves per game, 26th in save percentage, and 14th in saves. 
  • In the team's last outing, McCullough made 14 saves against only nine goals allowed, and she has made at least 10 saves in three straight games.
  • Earlier this season, she posted 21 saves to set a school record against Liberty. 
  • McCullough surpassed 200 career saves earlier in the season.
