RICHMOND, Va. – The outdoor track season began today, and Longwood opened its spring season at the Fred Hardy Invitational at the University of Richmond.

Sophie Farley won the women's 5,000-meter event while adding a second-place finish in the women's 1,500-meters.

NOTEABLE RESULTS
Â
Farley posted a time of 17:22.67 to win the 5,000-meters, and her time of 4:34.99 helped her finish second in the 52-runner field.
Â
In the women's 3,000-meter,
Sydney O'Hara-Wood set a new program record with a time of 10:37.15 to finish ninth overall.
Â
Both the men's and women's 4x100 relay teams set new program records with the men finishing third overall with a time of 41.36 and the women finishing sixth overall with a time of 48.42

Ayden Stewart placed third in the men's 400-meter dash with a 48.31.
Â
Alyssa Pillow posted a sixth-place finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a 1:14.30, and Joshua Martin was ninth in the men's 800-meters with a 1:56.27.

Clinton Clancy also finished eighth in the men's 5,000-meter run with a 15:27.90.

"Today was a good start to outdoor season," said Longwood Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Brooke Criag. "We had a few breakthroughs and a lot of good starts to the season. I think the team has a lot to build off of over the next 4 meets before the Big South Championship."
