FARMVILLE, Va.- The Longwood Lancers (0-3) hit the road once more for a midweek matchup against the VCU Rams (2-2). 
 
History: VCU and Longwood have faced off six times in the past; the Rams lead 6-0 so far. The last matchup occurred last year, in a 15-8 loss for Longwood.
 
Racing the Rams:
  • VCU comes in for its fifth match of the season after playing a variety of regional opponents: Howard (18-3 win), Charlotte (16-15 loss), Virginia Tech (11-4 loss), and Old Dominion (12-10 win). 
  • Sam Palmer leads the scoring effort for the Rams with 11 goals and two assists.
  • Rachel Koeneke (nine goals, four assists), Molly O'Keefe (seven goals, four assists), and Kenson Epperly (five goals, three assists) also have played a prominent role in the VCU attack.
  • Lu Doyen (2-2) stands tall in goal for VCU, with 20 saves and a .351 save percentage. 
  • Lakelyn Bostian is the Ram's leader on the draw circle with 14 draw controls.
 
Youthful Attacking Prowess:
  • The Lancers rely on a youthful attacking front, with seven underclassmen recording points on the season.
  • Sophomore Madison Rogers has nine goals and two assists and leads Longwood on the attacking end. 
  • Rogers leads Longwood in goals, points and shots and is tied for second in assists
  • Sophomores Bailey Stratton (four goals, one assist) and Alexandra Hirst (three goals, two assists) both aid Rogers in the scoring effort.
 
Quick Draw:
  • Longwood outdrew Campbell 12-11 in the draw circle on Saturday.
  • It was the first time the Lancers had won the draw control battle since doing so against Presbyterian a season ago.
  • On the season, the trio of Alexandra Hirst, Jordan Fitzgerald and Montgomery Bedford have been the clubhouse leaders in draws, with both Hirst and Fitzgerald posting 10 apiece while Bedford has eight. 
 
Blocking Shots with Bella:
  • Isabella McCullough (0-3) has been the leading goalkeeper for the Lancers. In three games, she has posted 34 saves and a 0.425 save percentage. 
  • In the Big South, McCullough is third in saves per game and fifth in save percentage. 
  • In the NCAA rankings, she stands 20th in total saves, sharing the spot with Shea Dolce of Boston College and Emily Backlin of Binghamton. She is also tied for ninth in Saves per game with Dolce. 
  • The senior has posted at least 11 saves in back-to-back games. She had a career-high 17 against William & Mary
 
Midweek Stands:
  • The next three games for the Lancers will be midweek showdowns.
  • In addition to VCU, Longwood takes on Liberty on March 4 at 5 p.m. and Old Dominion on March 17 at 5 p.m.
