Clancy Leads Lancer Men at Paul Short Run

Lancer Junior Runs Sixth-Fastest 8K in Team History

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Longwood men's cross country put together a strong showing at the Paul Short Run in the Men's College Brown 8K.
 
Clinton Clancy ripped off a personal best that was also the sixth-fastest time in team history to lead a set of strong times today.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
Clancy led the Lancers with a sub-26 time when he posted a 25:48.7 to finish in 78th in the 314-runner field.
 
That helped the Lancer men finish 30th out of 40 teams in the Brown 8K as the team posted a 26:35.6 average team time.
 
While Clancy, a junior, led the way, the next four Lancers were all underclassmen, with Andrew Hathaway finishing 116th with a 26:14.0 that was just outside the top 10 times in team history. Hathaway's time was more than 30 seconds better than his personal best.
 
Freshman Jaiden Santos-Nguyen finished 158th with a 26:32.4 that shaved more than 30 seconds off his personal best.
 
Fellow freshman AJ Koval finished 194th with a 26:53.0, and Sean Arjona was the final scoring member, finishing in 247th with a time of 27:29.9.
 
Andrew Rutherford clocked a solid 27:44.5 while finishing in 261st, and Javier Roldan finished in 279th with a 28:09.7. Josh Martin rounded out the team with a 29:12.8 to finish in 299th.
 
In addition, the team had six runners compete in the Open 8K earlier in the morning.
 
Andrew Schaefer ripped off a personal-best time of 26:55.3 that was a full 45 seconds faster than his previous best. He finished 300th.
 
Christian Reid finished 355th with a time of 27:23.3, and Nic Williams was on his heels in 360th with a 27:25.4 that also was nearly two minutes lower than his previous best.
 
Louis Semtner, a freshman, had a personal best time of 27:31.3 to finish 373rd, and Misha Wiley finished 419th with a 27:57.0. Bryce Christian was 439th with a 28:12.9
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
"The men took advantage of the big competitive fields in both of the races," said Longwood Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Brooke Craig. "It was good to see some major breakthroughs for a lot of our guys. We have some fine tuning to do before conference, but they are in a good spot for this time of year."
