FARMVILLE, VA. - Tuesday morning, former Longwood standout shortstop Greg Ryan was selected 15th overall in the Frontier League draft.Â
Ryan will be a member of the New Jersey Jackals this season, after earning the teams first round draft selection.Â
The Frontier League became an affiliate of the MLB in 2021 and plays a 96-game season that runs from May to September.Â
During his senior campaign, Ryan was selected the Second Team All-Big South Team as an infielder after hitting a career best .327 with 13 home runs.
That season, he piled up a whopping 63 RBI, which ranks fourth in a single season in program history. He racked up 18 multi-hit games and added 16 multi-RBI games.Â
Over his career at Longwood, Ryan served as a main stay at shortstop. He batted .295 over his career with 93 RBI, 19 home runs, and 109 hits.Â
He had 31 multi-hit games and 21 multi-RBI games in his two seasons in Farmville before graduating last spring.
