HOW IT HAPPENED:
Longwood opened the scoring in the second with an RBI double from Ben Pulliam and a sacrifice bunt from Jack McMullan to put the Lancers up 2-0.
Radford responded that same inning with seven runs to take the lead.
The Highlanders scored again in the third off a wild pitch, an unearned run in the seventh and an RBI single in the eighth to finish scoring 10-2.
Matthew Lefevers (2-3) earned the win after pitching six innings with only one walk and three hits allowed while giving up two earned runs.
Andrew Steinhaus (1) earned the save after pitching three innings with four strikeouts and no hits.
Joe Castrichini (1-2) took the loss after pitching 1.2 innings with four strikeouts, one walk and seven hits.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"Rough one today for us," said Head Coach Ray Noe. "Had some great ABs there in the 2nd to take the lead, and unfortunately gave it all away with the 7-run bottom half. Credit to their arms for shutting our offense down, and we didn't help ourselves in any way on the defensive side of the ball. I thought Drew Siegner was fantastic today, and Ethan Plesser and Joe Gomez did a great job with their opportunities as well. We haven't been able to press the right buttons yet offensively, but I'm confident in this group's ability to figure it out. We just have to stay the course and play the long game. It will break."
