Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Breanna Hoese shook off a slow start to come back and tie for 14^th after one round at the Low Country Intercollegiate.
 
The Lancers sit 13^th as a team out of 16 squads down at the Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Longwood sits two shots back of Big South foe Presbyterian, and four shots back of cracking into the top 10. Nobody shot better than even par on the day in the 90 player field.
 
Hoese excelled on her final nine holes, posting eight pars and a birdie, to help her climb up the leaderboard. She was even on Par 3s on the day.
 
Ester Choi finished tied for 22^nd on the day, one shot behind Hoese, and she had one birdie without anything worse than a bogey. She was an even par on Par 5s for the round, tied for third-best in the field.
 
Lauren Sims was Longwood's top player on Par 4s, with a two-over par day that tied for second-best in the field.
 
Both Annabelle Jennings and Emma Landis carded a birdie apiece of the team's four birdies.
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
"We got off to a ROUGH start; we were +14 through the first four holes," said Longwood Head Coach Megan Weaver. "Bre really turned it around and played well from there. Course management is key here, and we struggled to execute on the plan. It's hard to swing freely on these tight holes, especially after the early mistakes. But the poor decision making led to too many big numbers. We need to play smarter and make better decisions the next two days."

Longwood will play one round each of the next two days to close out the event. The second round tees off on Saturday morning.
