Â
WHAT THEY SAID:
Â
"A majority of the guys that ran today are seniors," said Longwood Director of Cross Country & Track
Brooke Craig. "This class means a lot to me personally because they have been the foundational group for the men's team. I recruited them during COVID when we couldn't meet them in person, and they bought into building this program to where it is now. They knew the job today was to make a statement and set the program up for bigger things. They accomplished what they set out to do, and I couldn't be more proud."
Â
"Today was a huge day for our men, and it's been a privilege to work with this group over the past few years," said Longwood Assistant Coach
Michael Craig. "They raced hard until the end, knowing that every point mattered, and they earned their highest conference finish in program history with their fastest team average and best score for a championship meet."
Â
"Four season ago, when we had a freshman-heavy team who made up five of the top seven, we came up with a slogan of 'Build a Foundation, Leave a Legacy,'" said
Michael Craig to the seniors. "Today as seniors, that same group led the team to their best finish in championship meet history in a conference that has only gotten stronger over that time. Their legacy is not only their performances on the course but also in the culture of hard work and progress they have built and will leave in the hands of a strong group of returners who rounded out this year's conference squad."
