Goulet Breaks Men's Cross Country 8K Record

Lancer Senior Leads Charge in Live at Lou

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Benjamin Goulet ripped off his best race of the season, and the senior had the best 8K in Longwood men's cross country team history.

Goulet broke the team's 8K record that had stood for 19 years, and he helped Longwood finish 21st out of a huge, competitive 30-team field in Live at Louisville.

NOTABLE RESULTS:

The Lancers had two players finish in the top 40 in the 323-runner field for the heat, and Longwood's top three runners finished in the top half.

Goulet ripped off a 25:36.1, breaking Adam Hutton's record of 25:38, set back in 2005 in the early years of the program. He finished 30th.

It was his personal best by more than 50 seconds, set last fall. He now holds both the top 8K and 6K times in team history.

Jordyn Dillavou was nipping on Goulet's heels, posting the now third-fastest 8K time in team history. His 25:41.9 was only three seconds off the old team record, and it was a personal best by a full 20 seconds. He finished 40th.

Saad Khan also set a personal best in the 8K, finishing 138th with a 26:52.3. He broke his prior personal by four seconds, set a season ago.

Clinton Clancy finished 181st with a 27:20.4, and Ethan Pettyjohn was 207th with a 27:41.3 to round out the scoring group.

Javier Roldan posted a personal best, and was Longwood's seventh finisher, with a 27:54.7.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"An excellent start to our championship segment," said Longwood Director of Cross Country & Track Brooke Craig. "We've had a few weeks off of racing, and they've put a solid block of work in. We had a lot of great performances and learned some things we need to fine tune before conference next month."

"Ben has been putting the work in for the school record since his freshman year," Craig added. "Every accolade he gets this season has come from years of hard work."
