SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Benjamin Goulet shattered his personal best in the 8K, becoming the first runner in program history to crack 25 minutes.
 
In the process, he finished in the top 20 at the USC Upstate Invitational and helped Longwood finish seventh out of 18 teams.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
The Lancers were seventh, just a handful of points behind Stetson in sixth. Longwood also topped fellow Big South competitors USC Upstate, who finished eighth, and Gardner-Webb. The team was three spots behind UNC Asheville, who finished fourth.
 
Goulet ran a 24:56.9 to lower his personal best and finish 18^th at the event among 199 runners. He knifed off 30 seconds off his previous best time, which was the program record set two weeks ago in Louisville.
 
The senior now holds the top two 8K times in team history.
 
Jordyn Dillavou finished 53^rd in the field with a 25:56.6, just 15 seconds off his personal best.
 
Saad Khan continued his strong close to the season, ripping off a second straight PR while finishing 65^th. He posted a 26:15.9 that was 11 seconds faster than his previous best.
 
Clinton Clancy also added a personal best and finished 66^th, notching a 26:17.9. He shaved seven seconds off of his PR.
 
Javier Roldan cruised to a 26:40, and it is the first time he has broken the 27-minute barrier. He knocked off 40 seconds off his personal best to finish 91^st and wrap up Longwood's scoring runners.
 
Christian Reid was outstanding as well, finishing as Longwood's sixth runner. He was 106^th while pulling off a 26:58.9. That time crushed his previous personal best by 49 seconds.
 
Misha Wiley shaved 37 seconds off his PR with a 27:11.3. Alec Daniel knocked 14 seconds off of his top time with a 27:30.5, and Bryce Christian cracked 28 minutes for the first time with a 27:45.8. Kadin Nitsch (27:48.2) and Joshua Martin (29:05.7) also set PRs as well.
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
"This was a huge step forward for the men," said Longwood Director of Cross Country & Track Brooke Craig. "They've put the work in to become more competitive, and it is starting to show. Now, their eyes are on conference to finish the job."
 
"I did not have Ben breaking 25 on my radar for today," Craig added. "I definitely thought it would happen by conference though. He took a chance from the start and went for being competitive in a big field."
