GREENVILLE, N.C. – Longwood women's golf moved up one spot while battling the elements to close out the second and final round of the Pirate Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
Chiara Wippert finished off a strong second round, moving up into a tie for 32
nd, and the Lancer women moved up to 13
th out of the 15 teams.
NOTABLE RESULTS:
The second round, which began on Monday but was suspended due to lightning and darkness, picked back up on Tuesday morning on the par 72 course at the Greenville Country Club.
The Lancers passed Barton in the final day, finishing with a 318-312—630 (+54).
Wippert closed strong, posting a pair of birdies in her final four holes, and the freshman finished with a three-over 75. Her two-round score was 76-75—151 (+7).
Abigail Sheldon also shaved off three strokes from her opening round score to card a 76 in the final round. She finished the tournament tied for 51
st. Her best stretch in round two came on the front nine, where she was even through nine holes.
Ester Choi had back-to-back 79s, and she closed the tournament strong. She tied for 58
th, and she was even over her final nine holes on the course with two birdies.
Hannah Wang climbed up to a tie for 71
st, and she too closed the event well. She carded an 82 in the final round, but she was strong on the seven holes with two birdies and four pars.
Aine Martin finished in a tie for 74
th.

"We all had a stretch of good holes over the tournament," said Longwood Head Coach
Megan Weaver. "Chiara had two solid days. Ester and Hannah both finished strong today. We need to extend those stretches of good holes to be good rounds, good days, and ultimately good tournaments."
