WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Emma Landis sure started her senior season off with a bang. Through 36 holes, she is tied for first in the 51-player field at the William & Mary Invitational on Monday, September 11.

The senior posted her best two-round start in her Lancer career with a 71-73, and she is at even par. The team sits in seventh out of nine teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Landis opened things off with one of her best rounds of her career when she opened with a 71. It tied for the third-best round in the field on the day.

She followed with a 73. Her 144 was good for even par, which was good enough to keep her in a three-way tie for first. Landis led Longwood with seven birdies.

Jennings fired a first-round 75 followed by an 81. She fired four birdies on the day to tie for 36
th in the field.

Lauren Sims and
Breanna Hoese made their Longwood debuts, and they finished within one stroke of each other, along with
Ester Choi. Choi carded five birdies, and Hoese had six.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"The course played tough with the rain yesterday," said Longwood Head Coach
Megan Weaver. "We battled through, but the scores were higher than normal. Emma kicked her senior year off to a fantastic tournament start. Hopefully we will have more putts drop tomorrow!"
