FARMVILLE, Va. – Justin LaRue put together a sterling performance at the Big Blue Intercollegiate earlier in the week, and the sophomore was named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday afternoon.
 
LaRue tied for first in the 90-player field at the Big Blue Intercollegiate, and he became the first Lancer to win a 54-hole tournament since the 2017-18 season.
 
The South Chesterfield native was consistent, posting a 71-67-68 over his three rounds to finish seven under par at the Par 71, 7,020-yard course at Hermitage Golf Club.
 
He was tied for the best average score on both Par 3s and Par 4s, and he finished second in the field with 13 birdies.
 
It was his best 54-hole finish and his lowest 54-hole score as a Lancer.
 
LaRue is the third Lancer to earn Big South Men's Golfer of the Week honors this spring. Brendan Dunphy (March 9) and Scott Jordan (February 23) also have earned weekly honors from the league.
 
The Lancers are finished with regular-season tournaments and will play as the fifth seed in the Big South Championship next week. Stroke play takes place on Monday and Tuesday, April 17-18. The top four teams will qualify for match play on Wednesday, April 19. The tournament will be held at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety-Six, South Carolina.
