Lancer Women's Golf Wraps Season Seventh In Big South Championship

Jennings, Schaffer Lead the Way on Final Day

NINETY SIX, S.C. – Longwood women's golf closed out the season seventh in the final round of stroke play at the Big South Championships.
 
The Lancers shot a 315 to finish the 54-hole stroke play portion of the tournament with a total score of 305-305-315—925 (+61) at the par 72, 6,297 yard course at The Patriot at Grand Harbor.
 
Longwood finished 11 strokes back of Gardner-Webb in sixth place. Campbell won the stroke play portion to garner
 
"The team started off the championship how we wanted to with a solid opening round," said Longwood head coach Brittany Dabule "We didn't hit good enough golf shots and missed the up and downs we needed to save. We didn't play to our best ability today and fell short of our ultimate goal, which was to make match play tomorrow. All we can do now is just learn from this week and do our best to prepare for next season."
 
Annabelle Jennings bounced back on the back nine after a slow start to the first nine holes of the day, and the sophomore finished tied for 14th with a three-round card of 77-72-79—228 (+12). She finished with 11 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, good for second in the 55 player field.
 
Peyton Schaffer posted the low score of the day for Longwood with a 76 (+4) in the final round. The junior came on as a substitute after the first two days.
 
Bobbi Uhl and Emma Landis finished within one stroke of each other, with Uhl slotting in 27th with a three-round score of 74-79-80—233 (+17). The senior tied for 11th in pars among the field.
 
Landis, a sophomore, carded a final-round 80 for a three-day total of 80-74-80—234 (+18).
 
Ester Choi finished the tournament in a tie for 33rd following her final round. The freshman carded a 75-81-83—239 (+23).
 
With the conclusion of the spring season, the Lancers will be back in action in the coming fall. Three of the team's top four lowest scorers by average this season were underclassmen.
