ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy used sweeps at five of the six singles courts on their way to a 7-0 win over the Longwood women's tennis team Monday afternoon.

The Midshipmen took two of the three doubles matches, including the third and decisive match at court No. 1, giving them a 1-0 lead heading into singles play and setting the tone for the rest of the match.

The tandem of Claudia MacKenzie/Emily Louie-Meadors took down Longwood's Fallon Burger/Marija Venta at the one line, 7-5. Navy's Audrey Channell/Danika Kahatapitiya defeated Paloma Alatorre/Jamie Breunig 6-3, while the duo of Anna Pelak/Mason Thomas picked up a win at court No. 3, 6-4.

In singles play, freshman Marija Venta took her first set against Catalina Rico at slot No. 2, but was unable to finish the win falling 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) in the last two sets.

The Midshipmen made quick work of singles play with sweeps in the first five decisions, as court No. 2 was the lone three-set decision between Venta and Rico. Amanda Keller took court one 6-0, 6-1, and the quartet of Carlee Conway, Aimee Dervishian, Meghan O'Malley and Danika Kahatapitiya took sweeps at courts three-through-six to clinch the match.

Longwood stays in Maryland as they take on UMBC Tuesday afternoon. Match time has been moved up to 1 p.m. due to the threat of inclement weather.
