HAMPTON, Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team swept the doubles point and captured five of six singles matches to earn a 6-1 victory over Hampton Sunday afternoon. The win marks the fourth straight victory for the squad, as the Lancers improve to 7-15 on the season.

"Our guys competed very hard today," said head coach Marty Perry. "It was a very tough 6-1 win and Hampton fought us hard for every point."

Longwood swept the doubles point for the second straight match to take the early 1-0 lead. At the top of the lineup, Dan Elston and Steed Johnson picked up an 8-5 victory over Hampton's top team of Miguel Suarez and Luke Thompson. On court two, Florian Uffer and Alfonso Castellano picked up an 8-4 win against Peter Odegbami and Fedor Shirin.

Longwood completed the sweep, as Bharani Sankar and Rosen Ilchev outlasted Joshua McQueen and Lakshmana Satchithananthan, 8-7 (4).
In singles, Longwood captured straight set victories at the top four positions of the lineup, as well as the sixth spot. Elston once again led the way atop the Lancer lineup, as he defeated Thompson, 6-2, 6-1. Castellano added a win after he defeated Odegbami, 6-1, 6-4.
At the third position, Johnson added his third win over a two-day span, defeating Suarez, 6-4, 6-4, while Uffer downed Satchithananthan at the fourth spot in the order, 7-6, 6-1.

At the fifth position, Sankar dropped the first set of his match against McQueen, before rallying to win in a decisive third set, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Manser dropped the lone match of the day from the sixth position, posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Shirin.
Longwood returns home Monday for its regular season finale against Bridgewater College. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m., with Elston and Johnson being honored prior for senior day.
