FARMVILLE, Va. – Dan Elston won his third consecutive singles match and the Lancers took the early 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point, but the Longwood men's tennis team fell in its home debut to UNC Asheville, 4-2, Saturday on Lancer Courts.
 
Longwood falls to 0-7 overall, while Asheville improves to 8-1.
 
Longwood opened the match by claiming the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. At the No. 1 position, Elston and Steed Johnson earned an 8-5 victory over Alex Croker and Brett Landau. At the third position, Bharani Sankar and Rosen Ilchev sealed the opening point with an 8-5 victory over Daniel Kripak and Josh Swindler.
 
Asheville captured the match from the No. 2 position, where John Schubel and Thomas Panoulas earned an 8-5 victory over Florian Uffer and Alfonso Castellano.
 
Elston picked up his third straight victory with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Kripak from the top spot of the Lancer lineup.
 
At the No. 2 spot in the order Uffer fell against Panoulas, 6-3, 6-2, while Castellano was outlasted by Swindler on court three, 7-5, 6-4.
 
At the No. 5 spot in the order, Asheville's Landau captured a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lachlan Manser. Meanwhile, Schubel sealed the victory for Asheville at No. 6 spot with a decisive victory over Sankar, 6-1, 6-0.

The match at the No. 4 position between Johnson and Croker was not finished, as the two players split the first two sets with 2-6, 7-5 scores.
