Farmville, Va. ­– Playing its eighth match in a 12 day span, the Longwood men's tennis team dropped its match against Campbell, 7-0, Thursday afternoon on Race Courts. The Camels came out and captured the doubles point, before winning each of the six singles matches in straight sets.

Alfonso Castellano was moved atop the lineup in singles after Dan Elston was removed. The freshman fell 7-6 (6), 6-1 against Steven Billington of the Camels. Senior Steed Johnson dropped his match at the No. 2 spot in the order, 6-2, 6-2, against Nicolas Rakitin.

On court three, Florian Uffer was outlasted in a first set tiebreak, 7-6 (5), by Lukas Schaefer, before falling in the second set, 6-1. Meanwhile, Bharani Sankar dropped his match at the No. 4 position by Jonathan O'Neal, 6-1, 6-1.

Lachlan Manser dropped the first set against Adrien Rossignon, 6-2, before falling in the second set, 6-1, at the fifth position. A day after earning his second collegiate singles victory, Rosen Ilchev fought hard before falling to Marthinus Visser, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles, the Camels swept the point by winning on all three courts. The pair of Elston and Johnson dropped a hard fought decision on court one against Visser and Rossignon, 8-5, while Uffer and Castellano fell on court two against the Campbell team of Schaefer and O'Neal, 8-4. At the third position, Sankar and Ilchev fell to Billington and Ratkinin, 8-3.

Longwood travels to Radford Sunday, March 29 for a 2 p.m. match against the Highlanders.
