FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood's Dan Elston won his fifth straight match, but Presbyterian won five of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 win over the Lancers Saturday afternoon on Lancer Courts.
Longwood won the doubles point for the third straight match with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions.
Elston and
Steed Johnson defeated Diego Manzanas and Joel Roberts at the No. 1 position by a score of 8-3, while
Bharani Sankar and
Alfonso Castellano knocked off duo of Lukas Luckemeier and Alexander Lykou, 8-7, at the No. 3 spot in the order.Â
Ben Kelley and Brandon Mills beat
Florian Uffer and
Rosen Ilchev, 8-6 in Longwood's lone loss in the doubles portion.
However, PC won five of the six singles matches.
Elston continued his win streak with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Roberts atop the singles lineup. The win is the fifth straight for Elston, as he is now 12-5 on the season and 8-2 in his last 10 matches.
Manzanas posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Uffer at the No. 2 spot, whileÂ
Alfonso Castellano fell in a decisive third set against Alejandro Bejar at the third position, 6-1, 6-7, 7-6.
Johnson fell at the No. 4 slot against Mills 6-4. 6-2, while Danny Bruce also got a win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, on court five with his win over Sankar.
Lachlan Manser dropped his match in straight sets to Kelley No. 6, 6-0, 6-3.
Up next, Longwood will return to the courts Sunday for a match against Coastal Carolina. The match is set to get underway at noon on Lancer Courts
