Jamie Brentlinger/Gambrills, Maryland recorded four goals and a career-high five assists for a personal-best nine points to lead the Longwood University women's lacrosse team to a 21-8 Big South Conference victory at Presbyterian College (2-14, 0-6 BSC) on Sunday afternoon. Junior
Lauren Prasnicki/Lexington added to the Lancers' offensive effort with two goals and four assists for six total points. Longwood (9-6, 4-2 BSC) will return to action on Wednesday, April 17 when the squad travels to American University for a 4 p.m. tilt.
The Lancers outshot the Blue Hose, 35-22, and scooped up more ground balls, 25-18. In addition to her game-high nine points, Brentlinger added four draw controls and one caused turnover. Freshman

After almost six minutes of scoreless action, Longwood got on the board with the first goal of the day when Prasnicki found the back of the net unassisted. Presbyterian quickly knotted the game at 1-1, but the Lancers answered with back-to-back scores from Jacobson and McHugh to pull ahead, 3-1, with 16:49 remaining in the first half. The squads continued to play a back-and-forth contest, though, tying on two more occasions, at 3-3 and 4-4, before Barondess sparked a four-goal run for the visiting squad, putting Longwood on top, 8-4, with 6:01 to play in the first. PC pulled within three, but the Lancers retaliated with an unassisted score from Brentlinger and a free-position goal from Barondess to make it 10-5 with just 20 seconds left in the half. The Blue Hose scored the final goal of the first half with just nine seconds on the clock, but Longwood still took a 10-6 edge into the break.
Coming out of halftime, Longwood scored twice more on shots by McHugh and Jacobson to take a 12-6 advantage with 22:37 to play. Presbyterian notched the next goal, but the Lancers followed with six in a row to take their largest lead of the day at 18-7 with 13:58 remaining. Barondess scored twice during the stretch, while Jacobson, Brentlinger, Picard and Whitman logged one apiece. PC ended the silence with its final goal of the game at 7:11, but Longwood scored three in the final minutes of play to seal the 21-8 victory.
