Jamie Brentlinger|Gambrills, Md. (Arundel) both scored two goals in the loss to the Hokies (9-5). The Lancers (1-9, 1-1 NLC) will remain in Farmville to host NLC foe Presbyterian College on Friday, April 13 at 4 p.m.
The evening's game saw consistent scoring from both teams as Virginia Tech scored seven goals in the first half and seven more in the second, while Longwood netted three in each period. Tech also opened the game with four-straight goals, which proved to be too big a hurdle for the Lancers to overcome. Sophomore
Mary Barondess|Centreville (Westfield) finally put the Lancers on the board at 14:41 for a 4-1 tally, while Rudloff added both her goals back-to-back at 6:32 and 5:41, making it 6-3. Tech would score the half's final goal at 3:39 for a 7-3 intermission score.

Alexa Anderson|Richmond (St. Catherines) cut the lead in half as she netted an unassisted attempt at 27:32, opening second period scoring. The Hokies answered that goal with three in a row between 26:12 and 19:37 on the clock, and despite Brentlinger's two goals with 18:25 and 8:42 remaining, Virginia Tech's final four goals sealed its victory.

Mollie Zimmerman|Fairpoint, N.Y. (Monroe CC|Catawba College) played the duration in goal for Longwood, making 11 saves and collecting one ground ball. Alex Gale played the full 60 minutes in net for Tech and made seven saves. Senior captain
Hannah Riggs|Eden Prairie, Minn. (Eden Prairie) collected a team-high four ground balls and three draw controls. Morgan Widlake scored a game-high three goals for Tech and collected a game-high seven ground balls, while Longwood was outshot 30-18, though the Lancers kept it even in the second half, tying Virginia Tech with 11 shots.
