FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University earned a 7-0 women's tennis win over visiting Morgan State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Association on Lancer Courts in Farmville Tuesday afternoon. The match, designated The SAME (Shortest Athletics March Ever), was played before a crowd of about 200 students, faculty and staff who all marched from the Lankford Student Union steps up Brock Commons to cheer the Lancers (7-8) to victory. Longwood is back on Lancer Courts in Farmville Thursday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m., hosting future Big South Conference opponent Radford University.

At #1 singles, junior Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won 6-1, 6-3, and junior Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) won 6-2, 6-0 at #2 singles. Freshman Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) and sophomore Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley) won at #3 and #4 singles, respectively, 8-3 and 6-0, 6-0. At #5 singles, junior Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0, while sophomore Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) won by default at #6 singles. In doubles action, Allgurin and Shulman took the #1 match 8-5, Pinyol and Moomau partnered for the #2 victory, and Parker and Hill earned a #3 default win.
