FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University took a 7-0 men's tennis win over visiting Morgan State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Association on Lancer Courts in Farmville Tuesday afternoon. The match, designated The SAME (Shortest Athletics March Ever), was played before a crowd of about 200 students, faculty and staff who all marched from the Lankford Student Union steps up Brock Commons to cheer the Lancers (7-6) to victory. Longwood travels to George Mason University of the Colonial Athletic Association on Saturday, March 31 for a match at 12 p.m.

Senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at #1 singles, while junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148) won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles. Freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School) and sophomore Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) took victories at #3 and #4 singles, respectively, 6-0, 6-2 and 9-8 (3). At #5 singles, freshman Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) defeated his opponent 6-0, 7-5, while classmate Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton) won 6-1, 6-2 at #6. Khmiadashvili and Elston earned an 8-3 #1 doubles victory, Kelleher and Becker lost 8-6 at #2, and Tanaka and Johnson were 8-2 victors at #3.
