FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University dropped a 4-3 women's tennis neutral-site match to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County of the America East Conference on Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Freshman Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) won in three sets at #3 singles 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-6 (3) as well as 8-4 at #1 doubles. The Lancers (3-7) will stay in Spartanburg to play the University of South Carolina Upstate of the Atlantic Sun Conference Monday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

Junior Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) was Allgurin's partner in the win at #1 doubles but lost her #2 singles match 6-2, 6-0. Junior Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) was swept 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles and lost 8-6 at #2 doubles with sophomore Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley). Moomau fell in three sets 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3 at #4 singles. Junior Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) and sophomore Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) were partners in an 8-6 loss at #3 doubles, but both were victorious in their singles matches. Hill won 7-5, 7-5 at #5 singles and Parker played #6, winning 6-3, 6-2.
