FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood Universtity swept the University of Maryland, Baltimore County of the America East Conference 4-0 in a men's tennis neutral-site match on Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) defeated his #1 singles opponent handedly 6-0, 6-2. The Lancers (4-5) remain in Spartanburg to face the University of South Carolina Upstate of the Atlantic Sun Conference Monday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

Tanaka partnered with freshman Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton) at #3 doubles for an 8-3 win, while Johnson won at #6 singles 6-2. 7-5. Junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148), freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School), and freshman Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) all played an unfinished match but were winning prior to stoppage. Khmiadashvili was up 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 at #2 singles, Elston was winning 7-5, 4-6, 3-0 at #3, and Kelleher was ahead at #5 singles 7-6, 3-1. Khmiadashvili won at #1 doubles with Elston 8-6, while Kelleher lost at #2 doubles 8-4 with sophomore partner Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus). Becker won 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at #4 singles.
