Mary Barondess|Centreville (Westfield) each scored three goals to pace the Lancers (0-3) against the Tribe (3-3). Longwood will be back in action Friday, March 2 at 4 p.m., hosting the University of Cincinnati of the Big East Conference at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.
Longwood was able to hang tough in the beginning of the game, answering W&M's early goal at 29:25 with two of its own as senior
Sam Stifler|Jarettsville, Md. (North Harford) scored at 28:03 followed by a finish from junior
Jamie Brentlinger|Gambrills, Md. (Arundel) with 26:50 on the clock, which turned out to be the team's only lead of the game. The Tribe then took control, scoring six more to take a 7-2 lead at 15:56 before the Lancers found the back of the net from Rudloff's first goal on a free position attempt wth 11:34 remaining in the first period. It was a back-and-forth battle for the remainder of the half as W&M scored at 7:32 before Stifler grabbed a ground ball from her own free position attempt and scored at 5:34. The Tribe quickly scored again at 5:14, while Rudloff responded with her second goal at 1:49. One final goal from W&M with :43 to go closed out the half for a 10-5 halftime score in favor of the hosts.
Longwood pulled within four goals just 45-seconds into the second half as Barondess came up with her first goal of the game, but William and Mary would score four-straight to pull ahead by eight, 14-6, in a matter of five minutes. Barondess found her second goal at 20:08 off a free position attempt, but the Tribe went on an 8-2 run through the remainder of the game that all but finished off the Lancers chances to get back in it.
