HOLLYWOOD, S.C. – Longwood University posted a 54-hole score of 302-295-294--891 Monday and Tuesday in men's golf to finish in seventh place among 15 teams at the Charleston Shootout hosted by the College of Charleston and played at The Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, South Carolina. Baylor University won the event with its 285-287-284--856 at the 6,922-yard, par 72 layout. Senior
Michael Young|Oakville, Ontario (Oakville Trafalgar) led the Lancers with his one-over par 76-69-72--217 that tied for eighth in the field of 75, while Charleston Southern's Jacobo Pastor took medalist honors at 68-72-69--209. Longwood will play again March 14-15 at the Triumph at Pauma Valley, a 54-hole tournament at the Pauma Valley Country Club hosted by the University of San Francisco in northern California.
Young was followed by juniors
Austin Gray|Midlothian (Monacan) (77-73-73--223, t26) and
Kenny Leech|Boca Raton, Fla. (Grandview Prep) (79-76-75--230, t45), freshman
Dylan Jensen|Martinsville (Carlisle School) (77-80-74--231, t50), along with junior
Ross Sumner|Callao (Northumberland) (72-77-87--236, 65). The Lancers' third-day score of 294 was the third-best team score of the final round.
Baylor was followed among the top-10 by the College of Charleston (870), Radford (879), Campbell (881), Charleston Southern (886), Stetson (888), Longwood (891), USC Upstate (896), Gardner-Webb (897), and High Point (902).
