FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University field hockey team dropped a disappointing 1-0 overtime decision to visiting James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association on Thursday evening at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. The Lancers used the breakaway advantage, but a hard shot by sophomore Stacey de Grandhomme|Cape Town, South Africa (Table View) was stopped by the JMU goalkeeper. Senior Olga Knop|Berlin, Germany (Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium) made a defensive save in the 33rd minute to preserve the shutout at halftime.

In the second half, Longwood withstood five JMU penalty corners,  with only one shot actually reaching Goulding during that span. The Lancers had one penalty corner in the second half, but the shot by de Grandhomme was blocked. In overtime, the Dukes scored after a shot by Dana Allaband was stopped by Goulding, but Ysaline Nobels collected the rebound and sent it under a diving Longwood defender at 73:37 to give JMU the 1-0 victory.
