Lancers Fall at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Junior goalkeeper Sophie Mooldijk made 17 saves, but Longwood field hockey suffered a 5-0 loss to Davidson on Friday evening in Davidson, N.C.

How It Happened
  • The Lancers and Wildcats went back and forth in the first two quarters with Davidson (3-3) scoring late in the first. Liv Goeke scored the first goal of the day at 14:30. Mooldijk kept the deficit at 1-0, making seven saves in the first half. 
  • Six minutes into the second half, Matilda Collins earned a penalty stroke opportunity and converted. Two minutes later, Maia Macaloney found the back of the net with Emma Datch adding to the tally to push Davidson to 4-0 after three quarters. 
  • At the 47:38 mark, Collins scored her third goal of the season, to bring the score to 5-0. 
  • Mooldijk tallied 17 saves, making this the third game in the season that she totaled 10+ saves.
