FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University women's lacrosse team defeated National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) foe Howard University 24-3 on Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C.. Juniors Cara O'Brien/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) and
Duan Wright/Church Hill, Md. (South River) each scored four goals in the win. The 24 goals ties the Longwood record for goals in a game, set during the 1984 season against Randolph-Macon College. The Lancers (4-5, 3-0 NLC) return to action on Sunday, April 4, when they host the University of Louisville at 12 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.
Longwood jumped out to a 10-0 lead with 13:11 remaining in the first half seven players scoring during the run. Howard (1-10, 0-5 NLC) scored three of the next four goals as the Lancers carried an 11-3 lead in to halftime. Longwood added 13 goals in the second half to win 24-3.
O'Brien led Longwood with four goals and one assist for five points. Senior

Longwood had the advantage in shots (39-5), ground balls (13-7), draw controls (21-6) and turnovers (11-13).
Howard was led by Ashley Lawrence with one goal and one assist. Ashlee Brown and Jazzmin Drennon each scored one goal.
