FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team defeated the University of Richmond 6-1 on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. The Lancers won the doubles point and five of the six singles points. Longwood improved to 3-2 on the season while the Spiders fell to 3-5. The Lancers return to the court on Saturday, February 27, when they travel to Charlottesville to take on #1 Virginia at 5 p.m..

In singles competition, sophomore Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) won at #1 (7-6(4), 6-3), senior Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) won at #3 (6-3, 7-6(6)), senior David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) claimed victory at #4 (7-5, 6-2), freshman Bruno Orlandini/Araraquara, Brazil (E.E.B.A Araraquara) won at #5 (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) and Adham Halabi/Beamsville, Canada (Niagara Academy) picked up the win at #6 (6-4, 6-2). Freshman Marc Ferrigno/Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) fell at #2 (1-6, 6-4, 5-7).

In doubles action, Heird and Ferrigno won at #1 (8-3), Tanaka and Cardoso were victorious at #2 (8-1) and Halabi and junior Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) won at #3 (8-0)
