FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to visiting Campbell University on Friday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. Seniors Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) and David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) picked up the two wins for Longwood. The Lancers fell to 1-2 on the season while the Camels improved to 3-3. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, February 20, when they travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to face Winston-Salem State University at 1 p.m..

In singles action, Heird won at #3 (6-0, 6-3) and Cardoso won at #5 (6-2, 6-1). Sophomore Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) fell at #1 (7-6(5), 4-6, 2-6), freshman Marc Ferrigno/Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) lost at #2 (6-7(5), 4-6), freshman Bruno Orlandini/Araraquara, Brazil (E.E.B.A Araraquara) fell at #4 (4-6, 1-6) and freshman Adham Halabi/Beamsville, Canada (Niagara Academy) lost at #6 (4-6, 3-6).

The Lancers picked up one win in the doubles competition, with Tanaka and Cardoso winning at #2 (8-4). Heird and Ferrigno fell at #1 (6-8) and Orlandini and Halabi lost at #2 (8-9(5)).
