POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Longwood University posted a 54-hole score of 293-296-292--881 Sunday through Tuesday in men's golf to finish in 10th place among 18 teams at the Old Dominion/OBX Collegiate played at the Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point, North Carolina. East Carolina University won the event with its 270-282-275--827 at the 6,559-yard, par 72 layout on the Outer Banks. Junior
Austin Gray|Midlothian (Monacan) led the Lancers with his two-under par 71-71-72--214 that tied for 13th in the field of 93, while ECU's Harold Varner took medalist honors at 20-under par 65-66-65--196. Longwood will play again November 1-2 at the Kiawah Intercollegiate, a 54-hole tournament at the Turtle Point Golf Club hosted by Charleston Southern University on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
Gray posted a new collegiate-best for 54-holes (214), and was followed by senior

Ross Sumner|Callao (Northumberland) (76-74-72--222, t-46th), freshman
Kyle Bodin|Austin, Texas (McNeil) (78-75-75--228, t-71st), and junior
Bobby Fox|South Riding (Xavier, Conn.) (79-76-76--231, t-78th). Gray tied for fifth among the tournament field in birdies (14), tied for sixth in par 5 scoring (4.60, -6), and tied for ninth in par 4 scoring (3.96, -1). Young tied for fourth in eagles (1), tied for 18th in par 5 scoring (4.73, -4), and tied for 19th in birdies (11). Bodin tied for 11th in pars (35), while Fox scored a fall-best for three rounds.
East Carolina was followed among the top ten by Richmond (850), Liberty (856), Louisville (858), Radford (865), Elon (872), Furman (872), James Madison (874), William and Mary (875), and Longwood (881).
