HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Longwood University posted a final round of 328 Sunday in women's golf for a 36-hole total of 645 (317-328) to finish in fourth place among 12 teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford College. Western Carolina University won the event with its 316-317--633, while the Catamounts' Blaire Minter took medalist honors with her 73-75--148 at the 5,853-yard, par 72 Moss Creek Golf Club on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Longwood will play again this week, March 12-13, at the Snowbird Invitational hosted by Northern Illinois University in Tampa, Florida.
In South Carolina, Longwood was led by sophomores
Kameron Carter/Bassett (Bassett) (79-78) and
Brooke Mallory/Brockville, Ontario (St. Mary Catholic) (78-79) with their respective scores of 157, tying them in fourth-place among the 60 golfers. They were followed by seniors
Mary Carmody/Cortland, N.Y. (Cortland) (82-83--165, t-17th) and
Kara Spence/Hampton (Phoebus) (78-88--166, t-19th), along with junior
Laura Barrett/Blackstone (Nottoway) (85-88--173, 42nd).
