FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University women's lacrosse team fell to Old Dominion University 10-8 on Wednesday afternoon in Norfolk. Sophomore
Amanda Bereznay/Gwynn Oak, Md. (Seton Keough) led the Lancers with three goals on only four shots. Longwood falls to 6-4 on the season while Old Dominion improves to 5-1. The Lancers return to action on Thursday, April 2, when they face Howard University at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.
Longwood fell behind early, with ODU?scoring the first four goals to take a 4-0 lead with 15:57 to go in the first half. Bereznay scored her first goal on a free position shot with 12:18 remaining in the first half to make the score 4-1. The Monarchs scored two more goals before sophomore
Kesley Dean/Centreville, Md. (Queen Anne's) scored with 4:05 remaining to make the score 6-2. Sophomore
Morgan Illian/Salisbury, Md. (Parkside) added one more goal with 0.9 seconds showing on the clock to make the halftime score 6-3.
The Lancers came out after halftime and scored the first five goals of the second half. Bereznay scored first with 22:43 remaining in the game before adding her third goal of the game 26 seconds later. Senior
Dee Warehime/Westminster, Md. (Westminster) scored with 21:25 remaining to tie the game 6-6. Warehime has tallied at least one point in her past 22 games. Sophomore
Karli Brentlinger/Gambrills, Md. (South River) gave the Lancers a 7-6 lead with 15:18 to go in the game and sophomore Cara O'Brien/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) made the score 8-6 with her first goal of the game. Longwood would not find the net again and ODU?would score the final four goals, giving the Monarchs the 10-8 victory.

Juli Liebig/Centreville, Md. (Queen Anne's) notched 13 saves in goal for the Lancers. O'Brien and Dean each had one goal and one assist, while Warehime, Brentlinger and Illian added one goal each. Junior
Carlie Nethken/Hanover, Md. (Long Reach) picked up four ground balls.
The Monarchs were led by Ashley Kellogg who scored six goals and added one assist. Three of Kellogg's goals came in the Monarch's 4-0 run to end the game. Sarah Geary had 13 saves in goal for ODU.
