WALLACE, N.C. – Longwood University posted a final round of 325 Tuesday in women's golf for a 54-hole total of 954 (318-311-325) to finish in 10th-place among 12 teams at the Lady Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington in Wallace, North Carolina. East Tennessee State University won the event with its 300-303-300--903, while Elon University's Danielle Mills took individual medalist honors with her 72-68-76--216 at the 6,165-yard, par 72 River Landing Country Club. Longwood will next host the annual Tina Barrett Invitational at The Manor Resort Golf Club, a 54-hole tournament to be played next Monday and Tuesday, March 30-31.
In North Carolina, Longwood was led by sophomore
Kameron Carter/Bassett (Bassett) with her 77-76-78--231, good for a 16th-place tie among the 72 golfers. Carter, who also tied for fourth in pars (35) and sixth in par 4 scoring (4.27, +8), was followed by seniors
Mary Carmody/Cortland, N.Y. (Cortland) (78-78--80--236, t-25th) and
Kara Spence/Hampton (Phoebus) (81-79-81--241, t-43rd), sophomore
Brooke Mallory/Brockville, Ontario (St. Mary Catholic) (82-78-88--248, t-56th), along with junior
Laura Barrett/Blackstone (Nottoway) (86-89-86--261, 69th).
Longwood will be joined next week at this year's Tina Barrett Invitational at The Manor Resort by defending champion Ball State, along with Radford, Akron, Boston University, Cleveland State, High Point, Long Island, Marshall, Mount St. Mary's, Oakland, Presbyterian, Saint Francis (Pa.), Towson, and Methodist.
