KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Longwood University posted a final-round of 317 Tuesday in women's golf for a 54-hole total of 957 (316-324-317) to finish 25th among 43 teams at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The University of Miami (300-305-299) and the University of Central Arkansas (310-300-294) each finished at 904, while Nicole Forshner (74-73-71) of UCA and Sinead O'Sullivan (74-73-71) of East Tennessee State University each finished at 218. Longwood will play again March 7-8 at the Western Carolina/Low Country Intercollegiate at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Longwood was led by senior
Kara Spence/Hampton (Phoebus) (77-80-75--232) and sophomore
Kameron Carter/Bassett (Bassett) (76-78-78--232) that tied them for 48th individually among the 215 collegiate golfers. They were followed by senior
Mary Carmody/Cortland, N.Y. (Cortland) (77-80-80--237, t-81st), sophomore
Brooke Mallory/Brockville, Ontario (St. Mary Catholic) (86-86-84--256, t-190th), along with freshman
Alexa Boucher/Orange (Orange) (88-97-87--272, 207th).
The massive field of 43 teams and 215 players played at both the Cougar Point (Par 72 - 6009 yards) and Oak Point (Par 72 - 5907 yards) golf courses at Kiawah Island.
