SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Longwood University posted a final round of 296 Sunday in women's golf for a 54-hole total of 912 (309-307-296) to finish in second-place among 17 teams at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate hosted by Elon University in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. East Tennessee State University won the event with its 309-298-298--905, while ETSU's Laura Jansone took individual medalist honors with her 73-70-73--216 at the 5,947-yard, par 72 layout. The Lancers will play again October 4-5 at the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
In North Carolina, Longwood was led by sophomore
Kameron Carter/Bassett (Bassett) with her 76-73-74--223 that placed her third individually among the 93 collegiate golfers. Carter was followed by seniors
Kara Spence/Hampton (Phoebus) (77-78-70--225, t-5th) and
Mary Carmody/Cortland, N.Y. (Cortland) (76-77-75--228, t-11th), sophomore
Brooke Mallory/Brockville, Ontario (St. Mary Catholic) (80-79-77--236, t-32nd), along with freshman
Alexa Boucher/Orange (Orange) (88-86-83--257, t-85th).
Longwood's final-round 296 was just off the school-record (291), as was its 54-hole total of 912 (909).
