GORDONSVILLE, Va. – Longwood University completed rounds of 292 and 290 Tuesday in men's golf for a 54-hole score of 868 (286-292-290) to finish in first place among 14 teams at the Frank Landrey Invitational hosted by Liberty University.  The University of Richmond's Brad Miller took individual medalist honors with his 70-71-69--210 at the 7,186-yard, par 72 Spring Creek Golf Club in Gordonsville.  The Lancers earned their second tournament win in four events this fall, and will conclude the fall portion of their schedule October 27-28 at the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate, a 54-hole tournament to be hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
   
Longwood was led by senior Scooter Buhrman/Fayetteville, N.C. (Jack Britt) with his 71-69-73--213, good for a second-place tie among the 87 collegiate golfers.  Buhrman posted a fall-best for 54-holes, and was followed by junior Adam Webb/Ridgeway (Magna Vista) (74-72-68--214, t-5th), freshman Kenny Leech/Boca Raton, Fla. (Grandview Prep) (71-76-75--222, 20th), along with sophomore Michael Young/Oakville, Ontario (Oakville Trafalgar) (74-75-75--224, t-25th) and freshman Ross Sumner/Callao (Northumberland) (70-80-74--224, t-25th).  Sumner matched his fall and collegiate-best for three rounds.

Buhrman led the field in par 5 scoring (4.33, -8), tied for second in eagles (1), and tied for eighth in par 3 scoring (2.92, -1).  Webb tied for the lead in par 4 scoring (4.00, E), and tied for second in eagles (1) as well.  Sumner also tied for eighth in par 3 scoring (2.92, -1), while Young tied for 10th in pars (34).  As a team, the Lancers led the field in par 4 (4.18, +27) and par 5 (4.80, -12) scoring, tied for first in par 3 scoring (3.03, +2), led the field in pars (164), and was second in eagles (2) and tied for fourth in birdies (45). Radford University finished second with its 877, followed in the top five by James Madison (879), Delaware (882), and Richmond (888).

Through the four tournaments, and 12 rounds of golf, Webb leads Longwood with his scoring average of 72.2 and is followed closely by Young (72.8), Buhrman (72.9), and Leech (73.3).  Other averages include freshmen Stewart Surratt/Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg) (74.7), Sumner (75.3), senior Allain Blanchard/Williams (Jamestown) (79.4), sophomore Jed Rasnick/Roanoke (Lord Botetourt) (79.5), and freshman Austin Gray/Midlothian (Monacan) (80.8).  The Lancers are averaging an impressive school-record pace of 290.0 for team scoring this fall with the two tournament wins and a runner-up finish already.
