NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Longwood men's and women's tennis teams are set to open the 2026-27 season at the CNU Duals and Mock Dual Invite on Christopher Newport's Eyre Courts Saturday and Sunday.

The Lancers will compete against Hampton and Mary Washington on Saturday and the host Captains Sunday on the men's side. The women's team plays Washington & Lee and CNU Saturday and Hampton on Sunday, all in a mock dual format.

Action begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m., on Sunday for the Lancers. 

The men's team returns two players — senior Daniel Borisov and junior Marko Mrdak — to a team that was 13-7 overall and 2-1 in the league before advancing to its first Big South championship match.

Longwood then played in the semifinals of the UTR Sports NIT Championship in Rome, Ga.

Four members of the women's team are back — senior Feline van Eijkelenburg, junior Alexandra Magia and sophomores Genevieve Dickey and Hima Fernando — for a squad that earned a share of the Big South regular-season title for the first time last season after playing to a 9-8 overall mark and 3-1 in the league.

Borisov was named to the All-Big South first team in doubles and second team in singles, while Fernando claimed Big South Freshman of the Year and All-Big South second team honors in singles. van Eijkelenburg earned All-Big South first team in singles and second team honors in doubles with Magia, who also was second team in singles.
