GADSDEN, Ala. – Madison Lehr continued her strong run of play at the Chris Banister Golf Classic, and Longwood women's golf wrapped up the second day of the Chris Banister Golf Classic.
 
The Lancers are in fifth with one round to play, with the team one shot behind Troy and six behind the hosts, Jacksonville State, at the RTJ Trail Golf Course at Silver Lake.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
Longwood posted a 310, the fifth-best score on the day in the 16-team field, to hold a 305-310—615 (+39).
 
The Lancers have two players in the top 25 of the 93-player field.
 
Lehr has been the team's top player, climbing three spots into a tie for ninth with a second-straight 74. Today, she posted seven straight pars to close the round, and she had two more birdies.
 
Through two rounds, Lehr has six birdies and has carded a 74-74—148 (+4).
 
Chiara Wippert moved up one spot into a tie for 25^th, and the sophomore has posted a 77-77-154 (+10) through two rounds. She had a pair of birdies in today's round.
 
Abigail Sheldon is tied for 33^rd with a 77-79—156 (+12). She has three birdies through two rounds.
 
Avery Nordman is tied for 41^st on the heels of a 77-80—157 (+13), and Caroline Tragesser is tied for 58^th with an 80-83—163 (+19).

"We were out there grinding all day," said Longwood Head Coach Megan Weaver. "Fortunately, we got off to a better start today, but with these greens, you can't miss a shot. Madison had another great round—she's staying so present and it's really allowing her to score well. Hopefully tomorrow we can get more putts to fall."
