NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Madison Lehr was once again incredibly consistent, and Chiara Wippert nearly matched her on the day.
 
The end result? Longwood women's golf sits tied for fifth out of 16 teams following two rounds at The Nashville Invitational at the Hermitage Golf Club.
 
Lehr is tied for seventh while Wippert is tied for 12^th in the 91-player field.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
After seeing the temperature drop close to 30 degrees from the practice round yesterday, the Lancer women battled and shaved seven strokes off from round one to round two.
 
After opening with a 306, the Lancers carded a 299 to finish the day 306-299—605 (+29) as a team, which is tied with Northern Illinois for fifth. Longwood is eight shots back of the hosts, Lipscomb, for fourth and 12 shots back of Seattle for third.
 
Lehr continued her strong run of play. She fired an opening-round 75, and she knocked three strokes off her score in round two with an even-par 72 to finish the day 75-72—147 (+3).
 
She did so by carding two birdies and 30 pars over her 36 holes. In her second round, she posted 16 pars and a birdie, and she closed the round with 13 straight pars.
 
Wippert also knocked off three strokes from her first round to her second. After opening with a 76, she tallied a 73 for a two-round total of 76-73—149 (+5). She had four birdies on the day.
 
Avery Nordman had a pair of birdies while shooting a 76-78—154 (+10) to finish the day tied for 37^th. Abigail Sheldon shaved three strokes off her first round with a 79-76—155 (+11), and she also had two birdies.
 
Caroline Tragesser is tied for 73^rd with an 84-79—163 (+19), and she also had two birdies.
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
"I saw a lot of good shots and good reads on the greens," said Longwood Head Coach Megan Weaver. "We had a couple bad bounces that really put us out of position and led to doubles. Some were better than others at gauging the wind. What a difference in the weather between yesterday's 88 (degrees during the practice round) and playing today in the 40s and 50s!"
 
"Madison and Chiara both had a great day all around," Weaver added. "I couldn't be more impressed with Madison fighting a cold this tournament the last one and seeming unaffected by it!"
